Picture: Gary WarrickPENRITH freestyle scooter-rider Jackson Bartlett has not only become the first Australian champion but he’s the only one to represent the country at the international rounds in London.
The Jamison High School student — also known as J-Barts — will be one of the 50 competitors in the event which will be held in October.
Jackson, who won the Australian Scooter Championships held in Queensland recently and was given a sponsorship from the company Madd Gear, is one of the eight crew members on the Australian team.
Madd Gear is an international label, which supplies scooters, equipment and clothes.
Jackson said he didn’t think he would have made it this far when he picked up the slowly growing sport about four years ago.
“It was just something I did with my mates then I realised I really liked it and I got serious and started practising a whole lot more,” he said.
