Local residents should brace themselves for a savage increase as power bills are delivered to letterboxes in coming weeks.
“I read last week even school canteens may be forced to put prices up because of the Carbon Tax,” Bernard Bratusa, candidate for South Ward said.
“Local Councillors are supposed to look after the local community but courtesy of Labor’s infatuation with the Gillard Government Penrith voters have been betrayed.
“We’ve not heard a single word from local Labor Councillors criticizing the Gillard Government following the introduction of the Carbon Tax, but that is to be expected.” Bernard Bratusa added.
Tricia Hitchen, candidate for East Ward said, “Absolutely everything is going up and the relationship between the Labor lead Penrith Council, Federal Member David Bradbury and the Gillard Government will see local rate payers bear the brunt of the Carbon Tax in coming months.
“I was horrified to see my bill jump nearly $800 in just one quarter since the Carbon Tax was introduced, and it is only going to get worse,” Tricia added.
Ross Fowler, North Ward Liberal Councillor said the Carbon Tax was introduced by deception and stealth.
“I’d love one Labor Councillor to look me straight in the eye and say the Prime Minister and the Treasurer did not mislead every person in the country.
“The Carbon Tax will see the rate payers of Penrith and St Marys forced to pay in excess of $1 million and that is on top of the additional cost for goods and services that will flow from additional energy charges,” Ross Fowler warned.
Ross Fowler said, “It’s not good enough, and the people of Penrith and St Marys deserve better from their elected officials.”
On September 8 the residents of Penrith’s local government area will have their chance to end Labor’s love affair with the Gillard Government by electing a team of liberal thinking independents who will put the Penrith community first.
