Australian Hearing Penrith is offering free hearing checks to promote Hearing Awareness Week.

Visitors taking a hearing test will be given a voucher for refreshments at one of the local cafes.

Find out about common hearing problems and view devices for around the home.

Sixty per cent of Australians over 60 suffer from some form of hearing loss.

The checks take about 15 minutes.

Jobs for disabled

Ability Options is expanding its transition to work service to Emu Plains in 2013, helping people with a disability.

This two-year program helps school leavers prepare for work, training or further study.

The service will complement Ability Options’ existing services at Penrith, including free employment and case management.

Ability Options will hold information sessions at its Seven Hills office on Friday, August 24, 10am -noon.
